However, temping (or contracting) can be a viable option for many people, as it offers many benefits which initially may be overlooked by job seekers. Benefits Of Temping
- Opportunity to work with a variety of employers and thereby gain a broader range of skills and experience without the stigma associated with changing jobs regularly.
- Being a temp can sometimes mean you get a 'foot in the door' to some companies. Many of our clients have in the past offered permanent work opportunities to temporary staff that have impressed them.
- Temp work is ideal for those seeking seasonal or casual work or those who do not wish to be committed to full-time employment.
- The flexibility of temping means that many of our temps enjoy being able to say when and where they would like to work. Some enjoy the variety so much that they become professional temps and choose not to return to 'permanent' work.
- Some contract assignments are not always short term. Specialist contractors can often be engaged for lengthy periods of time or to work on specific projects.
- Many organisations outsource their recruitment and payroll services, so just because you are placed in an organisation by our consultants doesn't necessarily mean that all assignments are short-term.
- Casual rates of pay ensure you receive a higher hourly rate. Contrary to what you may have been told, temps do receive sick and holiday pay provisions as they are paid "up front" for these benefits (hourly rates are loaded to provide an annual equivalent of their 'permanent' co-workers doing a similar job at the award rate).
- Temp work can sometimes be an opportunity to fill the "gap" when seeking permanent employment.
