Clients
Our approach at Porter Consulting Group is to work with only a select portfolio of clients where we get the opportunity to know and understand your core business and values. This means we can enjoy a true partnership and really add value to the recruitment and human resources process.
We often find some companies seek a 'quick fix' to a staffing gap which can ultimately lead to longer-term or culture issues. This is not our approach. Our services are better suited to those companies who seek a true partnership arrangement where we can provide a thorough recruitment and selection service and work together to achieve an ideal outcome.
Engaging a recruitment provider can be an expensive exercise and we suggest you invest your dollar wisely. In today's competitive market, it is essential that you choose a recruitment partner that understands your needs, provides a quality service and can deliver. Here are our Top 5 Tips on how to choose and work with your recruitment partner:
- Do they specialise in the industry you are in? Some recruiters are specialist providers and others are generalist providers across many industries. Choose the one that understands your industry and ideally one that regularly recruits in that area. A good way to decide if you are unsure is to ask them about their current clients and past successes.
- Don't choose on price alone! The old saying, 'you get what you pay for' is often true. Price can be a differentiator for some recruiters but generally it's not as the differences are experienced in the service levels and the quality of candidates you receive. Work to establish longer-term relationships with your recruiter and remember it's a two-way street. The consultant will be more passionate about working with you when there's an ongoing commitment, a good relationship and future opportunities, rather than a one-off low cost option. We believe you won't receive value for money if you take this approach and perhaps if you cannot afford the services of a good recruiter then it may be best to invest in a recruitment campaign managed internally.
- Find out about their internal processes and how they go about searching and selecting candidates for you. A good recruitment partner will take you through their methodology and display a thorough and consistent approach. Where do they source their candidates? Ask questions about these things which will reassure you they have good practices in place and that they operate professionally and ethically.
- Don't rely on the 'size of the database' as we believe that the finest quality candidates in today's market don't sit on anyone's database for very long at all - often they are the passive job seekers which need to be found!
- Don't hesitate to set down some guidelines as to your expectations and ask questions along the way. This will ensure you are both on the 'same page' from the very beginning and that every opportunity is given to the recruitment partner to succeed. Do spend time with them early on in the relationship to ensure they understand your needs and look for recruitment consultants that are willing to invest in and build long-term relationships with you.
